20 Aug Bank of Guam Strykers FC capture 2025 women’s futsal crown
[August 15, 2025 – Harmon, Guam] The Bank of Guam Strykers FC capped its undefeated GFA Women’s Futsal League season with a narrow 4-3 win over NAPA Rovers FC in the league’s championship match to capture the 2025 crown at the University of Guam Fieldhouse.
A 35th minute goal from Olivia Haddock was the eventual game-winner, as the her team heightened its defense long enough to stave a comeback by the Rovers in the final minutes of the match. League Golden Boot winner Yae Kawauchi finished with a pair of goals in the final six minutes of the match for the Rovers, but it wasn’t enough as the clock ran out.
Elisha Benavente-Meneses led the Strykers with two goals in the contest and teammate Sarah Benavente scored the team’s other goal. Rylee Guzman scored Rovers’ other goal.
In the night’s third place match, Sidekick SC slipped past Guam Shipyard 3-2, with Connica Baza scoring the eventual game winner in the 47th minute. Kierstin Catahay and Francesca Pangelinan scored the other goals for Sidekick SC. Demi-Rae Shimizu scored both of Guam Shipyard’s goals.
In the night’s awards ceremony, the Strykers were presented with the champions trophy and gold medals and the Rovers received the league’s second-place trophy and silver medals. The Rovers’ Yae Kawauchi received the league’s Golden Boot awards, amassing 66 goals in 14 matches, more than double the number of goals of the race’s second-place player. Sarah Benavente finished behind Kawauchi with 31 goals in 14 matches and University of Guam’s Abigail San Gil was third in the race with 23 goals in 14 matches.
Tumon’s Artilia Lizama was awarded the league’s Golden Glove award, finishing with a single clean sheet and a 10.2 goals allowed average in 650 total minutes played in the goal.
Awards were presented by GFA President Valentino San Gil, GFA Women’s Football Committee Chairperson Kelley Barnhart, and GFA Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee Member Koharu Minato.
