Bank of Guam Lady Strykers Capture 2018-19 Women’s Title

[April 9, 2019 – Harmon, Guam] The Bank of Guam Lady Strykers captured the 2018-2019 Bud Light Women’s Soccer League Premier Division title, finishing the season with the best league record (8-1-2) following final week matches Sunday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The Lady Strykers defeated the Islanders FC 5-0 with two goals from Jinae Teria and one each from Lauren Phillips, Anjelica Perez, and Koharu Minato to complete the team’s 2018-2019 season.

In other matches, Guam Shipyard (8-2-1) secured a silver finish in league standings with a 6-0 shutout of the NAPA Lady Rovers. Guam Shipyard’s Shyann Roberto led all scorers with a hat trick and teammates Hannah Cruz, Erica Quichocho, and Arisa Recella also scored.

Quality Distributors (8-3) finished in third place with a 2-0 victory over Heavy Hitters/Nutrition Mission Heat. Franshay Shippey scored the first goal of match in the 84th minute and later assisted Paige Surber’s goal three minutes later.

In the league’s Golden Boot race, Heavy Hitters/Nutrition Mission Heat’s Alexandra Shimasaki finished in first place with 11 goals scored for the season, followed by the NAPA Lady Rovers’ Christiana Jo Quinata and Bank of Guam Lady Strykers’ Jinae Teria in second place tied with eight goals each.

With Sunday’s shutout, the Bank of Guam Lady Strykers goalkeeper Angelyn Sobrevilla cemented her spot at the top of the Golden Glove award race, conceding only eight goals in 902 minutes played. Sobrevilla also is credited with four clean sheets for the season.

In the Amateur Division, The Venue Sidekicks handed the University of Guam Lady Tritons’ first loss of the season with a 3-1 victory Sunday afternoon at GFA. Stephanie Bordallo, Simone Bollinger, and Jada Han scored for the Sidekicks and Ariya Cruz scored for UOG.

The Venue Slay defeated the Bank of Guam Strykers D2 team with a 6-0 victory led by Brianna Benito and Kara Duenas with two goals each. Isabella Shimizu and Chloe Miranda also scored in the win.

Team Mosa’s edged the IT&E Lady Bombers 4-3 with goals from Deniece Padilla, Demi-Rae Shimizu, Jessica Perez-Jackson, and Ginalynn Naburn. Megan Oksendahl led all scorers with two goals for the Lady Bombers and teammate Christina Baun also scored.
