ASC Trust Islanders Win U14 Girls Final, Octoberfest Tournament

[October 29, 2015 – Harmon, Guam] – The ASC Trust Islanders U14 Girls team was crowned champion of both the Guam Football Association & The Score’s “Just Kick It” All Girls League U14 division and the Marianas Octoberfest U15 Girls Soccer Tournament, held jointly at the GFA National Training Center Wednesday evening.

The Islanders nearly squandered a 4-1 halftime lead against defending champions Guam Shipyard Wolverines, but managed to keep afloat with the eventual game-winning, second-half strike by 11-year-old Jadyn Palomares in the 5-4 contest. Tiffani Lopez scored twice and teammates Riley Guzman and Jenna Han also scored for the Islanders.

Vanessa Cruz scored twice for the Wolverines and teammates Samantha Fegurgur and Samantha Kenney also scored in the championship match.

The All Girls league U14 division playoffs were held jointly with the Octoberfest tournament, which featured visiting Assumption Antipolo, a school team from the Philippines. The tournament was held over three days and concluded Wednesday.

Following the championship match, the Islanders received the championship trophy for both events and team member Abigail San Gil earned the All Girls League Golden Boot award. The Wolverines received the runner-up trophy for both events and the Southern Cobras received the third-place trophy for the All Girls League. Assumption Antipolo team members all received Fair Play medals during the awards presentation.
