GFA unveils new organization logo during lighting ceremony

[March 25, 2026 – Harmon, Guam] The Guam Football Association officially unveiled its new visual identity, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s nearly 50-year journey of developing and representing football on Guam.

Since its founding in 1975, GFA said it has served as the island’s governing body for the sport, working to expand opportunities for players, coaches, and the broader football community.

GFA said the new brand identity honors that history while introducing a modern system designed to represent Guam football for the next generation.

In a media release, GFA said the new identity is guided by the principle “Guåhan Chinålan Mo’na,” meaning “Guam Leading the Way.”

The phrase represents forward movement, unity, and the island’s commitment to growing the sport while maintaining strong cultural roots.

The centerpiece of the rebrand is a new crest designed to capture the spirit of Guam through symbolism rather than literal imagery.

“Instead of depicting a traditional proa directly, the design expresses the essence of navigation and wayfinding through geometric abstraction. The composition reflects forward movement, layered depth, and a guiding star—visual elements inspired by the island’s long history of ocean navigation and community resilience,” GFA said.
The concept behind the mark emphasizes several key ideas central to Guam football: the ability of people to navigate challenges together, the shared journey of athletes and supporters, and the balance between cultural heritage and modern progress, the organization said.

GFA president Tino San Gil said the new logo represents more than a visual identity.

“It captures the spirit of Guam football, rooted in culture, resilience, and forward movement,” he said in a statement. “It reflects who we are as a football community and where we’re headed together on the world stage.”

The logo’s shield format and clean geometry also align with international football federation standards, creating a professional identity that stands confidently alongside global associations while remaining unmistakably Guamanian, GFA said.
Within the design, symbolic colors reinforce the narrative of the organization’s mission.

A white proa moves forward through layered waves of heritage represented in navy, energized by red symbolizing passion and youth development, framed by gold representing achievement, and guided by a white star symbolizing clear direction and purpose.

Beyond symbolism, the new mark was also designed with practicality and longevity in mind, GFA said.

Its bold geometry and straight-edged shield ensure clean reproduction across a wide range of applications — from embroidered kits and signage to digital platforms and international competition materials.

By balancing tradition, cultural identity, modern design principles, and intentional symbolism, the new brand system is intended to serve the Guam Football Association for decades to come.

“The unveiling of the new identity represents more than a visual update,” GFA added. “It signals the continued evolution of football on Guam and the association’s commitment to guiding the sport forward.”
