02 Dec Team Slay, Familia Open With Fall 2017 Bud Light W2 Wins
[October 16, 2017 – Harmon, Guam] – Last season’s runner-up ISC/Calvo’s SelectCare Team Slay takes the early top spot following opening week matches of the Bud Light Women’s Soccer League W2 Division Sunday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.
Team Slay defeated the Bank of Guam Strykers W2 6-2 with two goals each from Alyssa Benito, Brianna Benito, and Raelene Tajalle for the No. 1 spot in league standings based on superior goal differential. Samantha Quinata and Colleen Quinata scored for Bank of Guam.
In the division’s other match, a 57th minute rocket from outside the penalty box by FC Familia’s Candice Connelley was the eventual game winner in her team’s 2-1 win over Team Mosa’s. Ginalynn Naburn scored FC Familia’s other goal. Lily Concepcion scored for Team Mosa’s.
The W2 Division, only in its second season, features five teams. The league’s other team, defending champions University of Guam Tritons, received a bye on opening week.
In Week 4 of the Bud Light Women’s Soccer League Premier Division played Sunday, the Personal Finance Center Lady Crushers take back the No. 1 spot in league standings based on superior goal differential following its 7-0 win over Nutrition Mission Heat.
Colleen Naden led the Lady Crushers with a hat trick and teammate Samantha Fegurgur scored twice in the win. April Talledo and Katie Wendal scored the Lady Crushers’ other goals.
The NAPA Lady Rovers, though equal with the Lady Crushers based on points, fell to the No. 2 spot after narrowly defeating Quality Distributors 1-0. Brianne Leon Guerrero finished an assist from Chloe Salas in the 82nd minute for the lone goal of the contest.
In the division’s other Week 4 match, the Bank of Guam Lady Strykers picked up their second-straight win with a 6-3 victory over Hyundai. Jinae Teria led all scorers with a hat trick and teammates Lauren Phillips, Hannah Cruz, and Alexy Dacanay also scored. Kiko Yamamoto, Erica Quichocho, and Rylee Guzman scored for Hyundai.
In the Golden Boot race, Leon Guerrero, Naden, and Teria are all tied for first place with six goals each in four matches.
