
19 May Virtual draw set for May 24 for AFC U20, U17 qualifiers
The AFC U17 Asian Cup Bahrain 2023™ Qualifiers draw will be held live at 4 p.m. Guam time May 24, followed by the draw for the AFC U20 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2023™ Qualifiers at 6 p.m.

The AFC U20 Asian Cup Uzbekistan 2023™ Qualifiers are set for Sept. 10 to 18 this year. The AFC U17 Asian Cup Bahrain 2023™ Qualifiers will take place a month later from Oct. 1 to 9. A total of 44 teams out of 47 Member Associations in Asia will compete in both tournaments.
Each team will be drawn into one of 10 groups. Six groups will feature four teams and four groups will feature five teams, according to an AFC letter to participating teams.
For the U20 qualification tournament, confirmed host countries are: Bahrain, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kyrgyz Republic, Laos, Mongolia, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Tajikistan. All venues are over 2,500 miles from Guam, with Laos as the closest country. Jordan, the farthest out of the 10 countries from Guam, is close to 7,000 miles away.
For the U17 qualification tournament, confirmed host countries are: Australia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Jordan, Kyrgyz Republic, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. All venues are at least 2,000 miles away from Guam, with Indonesia as the closest country. Jordan, again, is the farthest out of the 10 countries from Guam.
Unlike in previous tournaments, there will be no zones based on geographical location. Guam may be drawn to play in any of the 10 host countries listed above for the respective tournaments.
