Royals flex football muscles early in preseason tourney win

[March 19, 2018 - Harmon, Guam] The Notre Dame High School Royals demonstrated its football prowess early, winning against the Academy of Our Lady of Guam Cougars in the championship match of the 2019 Challenge Cup Girls High School Annual Preseason Tournament late Sunday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The preseason tournament, supported by Japan Football Association, is held annually before the start of the IIAAG Girls High School Soccer League. In addition to the Royals and Cougars, this year’s tournament also featured the George Washington High School Geckos, Guam High School Panthers, John F. Kennedy High School Islanders, Okkodo High School Bulldogs, Simon Sanchez High School Sharks, Southern High School Dolphins, St. Paul Christian School Warriors, and the Tiyan High School Titans.

BMS Roadrunners win 2019 Sugar and Spice girls festival

[March 4, 2019 - Harmon, Guam] The Vicente S.A. Benavente Middle School Roadrunners captured the 2019 title of the 12th Annual Sugar and Spice Middle School Girls Soccer Festival Sunday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The Roadrunners defeated last year's champions, the St. John's School Knights 3-0 in the festival's final. The Roadrunners' Cassandra Kido scored a hat trick for her team in the championship match.

GFA Executive Committee member Gian Tenorio, GFA General Secretary Micah Paulino, and GFA Executive Director and Women's Football Director Cheri Stewart awarded the festival's top two teams with trophies and medals.

Sharks win 2018 GIrls High School Preseason Tournament

[March 25, 2018 - Harmon, Guam] The Simon Sanchez High School Sharks outlasted the Southern High School Dolphins, winning a 1-0 penalty kick shootout in the championship match of the 2018 Challenge Cup Girls High School Annual Preseason Tournament late Saturday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Sharks’ goalkeeper Angelyn Sobrevilla made her mark as the Player of the Match in the final, stopping three penalty kicks in the shootout to lead her team to preseason victory.

St. John's Knights defend middle school girls festival title

[March 19, 2018 - Harmon, Guam] The St. John’s School Knights successfully defended their Sugar and Spice Middle School Girls Soccer Festival title with a 4-0 victory over the St. Anthony Catholic School Raiders in this year’s championship match Sunday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

“I feel really proud of the team and the school,” said the Knights’ captain Jadyn Palomares, who also received Player of the Match honors after the championship game. “It’s a great feeling that our team was able to win this festival two years in a row.

“I really feel that it was our covering and defense that helped us stay undefeated through the season and this festival. Today, our covering was the best,” added Palomares, a 13-year-old eighth grader who also plays for the ASC Trust Islanders.

Team Gadao wins 2017/18 Boys HS Soccer All-Star contest

[January 11, 2018 - Harmon, Guam] Team Gadao brushed off an early goal deficit to win the Guam Football Association Boys High School Soccer All-Star Match against Team Hurao, 5-3, Wednesday evening at the GFA National Training Center.

Team Hurao, made up mostly of the IIAAG Boys High School Soccer League All-Island First-Team players, engaged in a season-ending, one-time contest against Team Gadao, made up primarily of players in the Second Team or Honorable Mention listing, in the annual event.

Team Hurao’s Micah Hennegan gave his team the early lead on a one-touch, left-footed chip shot after chasing down a free kick from Takumi Odell in the 12th minute, but Team Gadao leveled the match just a minute later.
