Mini Masakåda open with Day 1 win in AFC tourney
[Beijing, China - May 17, 2016] The Mini Masakåda are on the right path to qualifying for the playoffs of the AFC U14 Girls Regional Championship in Beijing, China P.R. for the first time following a 1-0 opening day win over Hong Kong in Group B play Tuesday.
“The girls wanted to start out strong in the tournament and against a team they had faced a month earlier, they also wanted to see how much progress they’ve made the last few weeks leading up to the AFC tournament,” said Ashley Besagar, Mini Masakåda head coach after the match.
Mini Masakåda off to China to compete in 2016 AFC tourney
[Harmon, Guam - May 15, 2016] The Mini Masakåda, Guam U14 Girls national team, departed Guam early Sunday morning to compete in this week's 2016 AFC U14 Girls Regional Championship East Region at the National Football Training Center in Beijing, China P.R.
The team has been drawn into Group B with Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, and Hong Kong. After pool play, the top two teams from each group will move into a playoff to determine the regional champion. The other group, Group A, consists of the host country, China P.R., Japan, Korea Republic, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
Guam will play its first match on Tuesday against Hong Kong at 2 p.m. Beijing time, followed by a match against DPR Korea the following day at 5 p.m. Beijing time. Guam's final pool play match will kick off at 2 p.m. against Chinese Taipei on May 19. Results will be posted on the AFC Web site here.
Mini Masakada assisted for U14 tournament in Maui
[June 30, 2015 - Harmon, Guam] The Mini Masakåda selected members received a boost with a generous donation from local business company East & North Island Tinting and Paradise Auto Spa before departing to Maui for a Fourth of July weekend scheduled tournament.
East & North Island Tinting and Paradise Auto Spa General Manager Thomas Roberto presented a $1,000 donation check to the team, set to compete in the 2015 Maui Cup soccer tournament, put on my the Maui United Soccer Club, after competing in the AFC U14 Girls Regional Championship earlier this year.
Guam Mini Masakada set to compete in AFC tourney
[May 16, 2015 - Harmon, Guam] The Mini Masakåda, Guam U14 Girls National football team, will be traveling to Beijing, China Sunday for the 2015 AFC U14 Girls Regional Championship, where the team is set to face Japan, Korea Republic, and Chinese Taipei in Group A.
Guam's opening match will be played May 19 against Chinese Taipei at 2 p.m. Beijing time. The team will next play Japan the following day at 5 p.m. Beijing time. Guam's final group match will be played May 21 at 5 p.m. Beijing time against Korea Republic. In Group B, host country China, P.R., DPR Korea, Hong Kong, and the Northern Mariana Islands will play group matches. The team learned of its group match opponents during the tournament's official draw on February 10.
Mini Masakada win silver in Hong Kong tournament
The Mini Masakada, Guam U14 Girls National Team, claimed a silver finish on the final day of the Woofoo Girl’s International Youth Football Invitational Tournament 2014 in Hong Kong with a 4-0 crushing of the Northern Mariana Islands.
Tiffani Lopez began Guam's scoring haul in the first half, followed by Yae Kawauchi before the halftime whistle. Caylani Estoy scored twice in the second half for Guam's final tally.
Guam finished ahead of Hong Kong and the Northern Mariana Islands with one win, one loss and one draw. A club team from China, P.R. finished first with two wins, and one draw (its second win was a 2-0 contest against the host country on the final day of the tournament).
Overall, Guam finished the tournament scoring the most goals out of all competitors, with five in three matches. The club team from China, P.R., scored three in three matches.
