PK shootout splits Friars, Islanders for 2017 Boys HS title

[December 17, 2017 - Harmon Guam] The Father Duenas Memorial School Friars captured the 2017 IIAAG Boys High School Soccer League championship in dramatic fashion, outlasting last season's champions, John F. Kennedy High School Islanders through to a penalty kick shootout Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Both teams' best chances at the goal during both regulation time and extra time were foiled by organized defenses, forcing a shootout to determine the winner. FD prevailed 3-2 to take home the champions trophy.

JFK, FD to play for 2017 IIAAG Boys HS Soccer title

[December 14, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] Defending champions John F. Kennedy High School Islanders will have an opportunity for back-to-back titles in the IIAAG Boys High School League when the team takes on the Father Duenas Memorial School Friars in the league’s final match Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

A four-goal second half by the Islanders was more than enough to put away the Southern High School Dolphins in Wednesday’s first semifinal match of the playoffs.

Team Magahaga repeats as Girls HS All-Star champions

[May 25, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] Team Magahaga makes it two-for-two in the GFA Girls High School All-Star Invitational, repeating as champions with a 5-3 victory over Team Metgot in the event's second-annual edition Wednesday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Team Metgot opened scoring for both teams after Skyylerblu Johnson finished a cross from teammate Randi Jo Paulino in the 29th minute. Not to be outdone before the half, Team Magahaga, which featured IIAAG Girls High School Soccer League All-Island First Team MVP Colleen Naden, as well as the league's championship match MVP Brianne Leon Guerrero, leveled the match right before the halftime whistle on a Naden free kick.

ND Royals repeat as girls high school soccer champs

[May 22, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] The Notre Dame High School Royals repeated as champions of the IIAAG Girls High School Soccer League with a slim 1-0 win over the George Washington High School Geckos Saturday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

IIAAG Girls High School Soccer League All-Island First-Team midfielder Brianne Leon Guerrero scored the eventual game-winner in the fifth minute, finishing a corner-kick play initiated by Shyann Roberto.

Controversy ensued early in the second half after the Geckos' Autumn Rese Cruz scored the would-be game-tying goal, as match referees made the decision to call off her goal as one of her teammates was deemed offside on a free-kick by Skyylerblu Johnson.

Royals to play Geckos for 2017 girls high school title

[May 18, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] The Notre Dame High School Royals will have the chance to earn back-to-back IIAAG Girls High School Soccer League titles when the Talofofo school team takes on the George Washington High School Geckos in the league's championship match Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The Royals booked their ticket to the big game against GW after defeated the Simon Sanchez High School Sharks 2-0 in one of two semifinal matches played Wednesday. Underclassmen Hannah Cruz and Shyann Roberto cemented the school's victory with one goal each in the lone shutout of the semifinals.

The Geckos overcame a defensive error in the fourth minute to defeat the Harvest Christian Academy Eagles in the early semifinal match 2-1. Miscommunication on a pass back to GW goalkeeper Tamica Hechanova put the Eagles up 1-0 early, but the Geckos would slowly redeem themselves as the game wore on.
