Matao to play in final WCQ Round 2 match in Oman

[November 22, 2015 - Harmon, Guam] The final stop in the Matao's 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia and AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Joint Preliminary Qualification Round 2 will be in Oman on March 24, 2016. After seven matches, Guam's record stands at 2-4-1, fourth-ranked in Asia's Group D behind I.R. Iran, Oman, and Turkmenistan.

I.R. Iran, Asia's top-ranked country, handed the Matao its first-ever defeat at home in the pair's fixture at the Guam Football Association National Training Center on Nov. 17. Both teams were hampered in the second half with red-card violations, with the visiting team taking full advantage of the 20 minutes played with Guam down one man in the contest.

Matao look forward to home clash against I.R. Iran

[November 15, 2015 - Yona, Guam] After a mammoth 24-hour flight from India, the Matao have arrived back in Guam ready to face their biggest test yet against Asian powerhouse Iran.

Following Thursday’s 1-0 loss to India in atrocious conditions in Bangalore the team is determined to get their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign back on track at their home fortress.

The 1-0 scoreline against India was not at all indicative of a match that Guam dominated in terms of possession and chances with only a lack of finishing at times letting the team down.

Life-changing experience for Matao at India's Parikrma School

[November 10, 2015 - Bangalore, India] One of the best parts of being an international footballer is that you get to travel the world, playing the game that you love.

Far too often though that world is one lived in hotels and on the training grounds with only minimal interaction amongst the people whose country you’ve come to play.

On Tuesday, the Matao got to see the other side as they spent the morning at a school for underprivileged children in Bangalore.

The Parikrma School has helped to transform the lives of more than 1700 children since it’s founding in 2003 where they provide quality education to the poorest of the poor, with the children coming from more than 70 slums dotted throughout the city.
