Bank of Guam Strykers win first-ever Minetgot Cup U17 title

[Harmon, Guam - October 13, 2016] The Bank of Guam Strykers won the first-ever U17 division title of the Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth League following its 3-0 win over Wings Red in the new league's championship match played Oct. 11 at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Joshua Calvo scored twice and Clayton Mitchell once in the championship match.

In the awards ceremony following the championship match, Calvo was recognized as the championship match MVP, Mitchell received the Golden Boot award for scoring the most goals in regular season matches, and Sablan earned the Golden Glove award as top goalkeeper. Wings Black was recognized as Fair Play award winners.

Trophies and medals were presented by Ambros Assistant Marketing Manager Chelsey Shimizu and GFA Executive Director Cheri Stewart.

Bank of Guam Strykers' Clayton Mitchell earned Golden Boot honors of the Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth League U17 division, scoring seven goals in six matches. Mitchell was recognized during an awards ceremony following the U17 division championship match at the Guam Football Association National Training Center Oct. 11. Bank of Guam Strykers' Shawn Sablan earned Golden Glove honors of the Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth League U17 division, allowing the least number of goals in the most minutes played (6 goals in 493 minutes of play). Sablan was recognized during an awards ceremony following the U17 division championship match at the Guam Football Association National Training Center Oct. 11. Wings Black received the least amount of cautions during league play - one yellow card in six matches.
