Manibusan, Cramer, Awa honored with National Academy awards

Guam Football Association National Academy directors and staff recognized athletes Erwin Manibusan and Luella Cramer, and coach Ross Awa as the Jamaican Grill players and coach of the cycle, respectively, for the program’s first session of 2014.

“Erwin – ‘EJ’ – had the highest number of consecutive juggles during tests in the last week of the first cycle this year,” said Dominic Gadia, National Academy Director. “He had the best score among all age groups and has continued to stand out in the program. EJ’s technical ability is at a high level for his age group and rivals some of the players in older groups.

“He has a great passion for the sport and is always up to date with results from football all around the world. He continues to be one of our brightest players to date,” Gadia added.

Lee, Palomares, and Laanan recognized with Jamaican Grill honors

The Guam Football Association National Academy directors and staff recently recognized Michael Lee, Jadyn Palomares and Joseph Laanan as Jamaican Grill Players and Coach of the Cycle, respectively, for the program’s fourth and final session of 2013.

“Michael has spent this last year training with the U14s, yet is still eligible for our U12 group,” said Dominic Gadia, National Academy Director for Boys. “He recently participated with the team that traveled to Saipan for friendlies. In Saipan, Michael demonstrated why he is one of our most promising players in the program. He is well-balanced and very strong on the ball. He used his excellent shielding ability against bigger players and is a very brave player; his competitiveness showed in Saipan. He is a very intelligent player with superb technique.”

Marchal, Kenney & Besagar receive Jamaican Grill awards

Yuuto Marchal, Sabrina Kenney, and Ashley Besagar were recently recognized by Guam Football Association National Academy directors and staff as the Jamaican Grill National Academy Players and Coach of the Cycle, respectively, for the program’s third session of 2013.

“Yuuto Marchal has been one of our standout players since the beginning of our National Academy program last year,” said Dominic Gadia, National Academy Director for Boys. “He has great natural talent and is one of our rare left-footed players. He is a very clever player and wants to be like his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rama, Cruz and San Gil receive Jamaican Grill National Academy awards

Guam Football Association National Academy directors and staff recognized athletes Riley Rama and Vanessa Cruz, and coach Samuel San Gil as the Jamaican Grill players and coach of the cycle, respectively, for the program’s first session of 2013.

“Riley was chosen for the Player of the Cycle Award because he has displayed the exemplary traits we try to instill in all our National Academy players,” said Dominic Gadia, National Academy Director for Boys. “He is an extremely competitive individual who strives to be the best in every training session. He is highly enthusiastic in training and is complimented with excellent football technique.
