Quality to play Wings Red in SP17 Minetgot Cup U18 final

[April 4, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] A new champion will be crowned in the Spring 2017 season of the Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth League U18 division.

Quality Distributors managed to pull a 5-2 win over last season’s champions, Bank of Guam Strykers, Monday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center in one of two semifinal matches.

Quality’s Sam Larkin led all scorers with four in the win and teammate Tara Usita-Lee also scored in the contest. Joshua Calvo scored both goals for the Strykers. Quality will play against the undefeated Wings Red team in the final, scheduled for Apr. 22 at 4:45 p.m. at GFA.


Wings Red stay perfect in Minetgot Cup SP17 U18 division

[March 21, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] Wings Red staved off a comeback by Quality Distributors to win 3-2 and stay perfect through Week 4 of the Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth League U18 division Monday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

After taking a commanding 3-0 lead with just 10 minute left to play, Quality got on board three minutes later with an Eddie Huang penalty kick. Four minutes later, a goal from Won Jae Ro put his team within one, but time expired for any additional scores in the contest. Devan Mendiola scored twice for Wings Red, including the eventual game-winner, and teammate Derek Okuhama also scored in the win.

In Monday evening’s other U18 match, defending champions Bank of Guam Strykers (3-1) edged Wings Black 1-0 with a goal from Clayton Mitchell.


Triple J RW youth league returns with Week 4 matches

[March 12, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] Thousands of athletes in the Triple J Auto Group Robbie Webber Youth Soccer League returned to the pitch after a weeklong break Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

In the U18 division, the ASC Trust Islanders Betde moved up to the top spot in division standings following an 8-0 win over the previously undefeated FC Barrigada Crusaders.

Following the Islanders in division standings are last season’s champions, the EFR Southern Cobras Black, after the team’s 5-4 edge of the Tigers. Though both the Islanders and Cobras are equal in total points gained at seven, the Islanders hold a goal differential advantage to take the No. 1 spot.


Bank of Guam Strykers win SP17 Minetgot Cup opener

[February 28, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] Defending champions Bank of Guam Strykers managed to hold down Wings Black 3-2 in an opening week U18 division match of the Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth League Monday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The Strykers pulled ahead 2-0 in the first half with goals from Vincent Cruz and Joshua Calvo, but Wings Black cut their deficit in half on a goal by Tyler Presto just one minute into the deciding half.

Xavier Naputi scored the eventual game winner about 20 minutes later on a long-distance strike. Phoenix Pahl pulled Wings Black within one in the 80th minute, but his team ran out of time to attempt a comeback.


Triple J extends partnership with GFA; provides vehicles
