Top U13 elite teams settle for Week 3 draw in Minetgot Cup

[September 30, 2018 - Harmon, Guam] The battle of undefeated U13 division teams in the Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth League Fall 2018 season ended in a stalemate as the Wings FC and Guam Shipyard Wolverines settled for a 3-3 draw Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

With a 1-1 score at halftime, the Wings FC found the team rhythm to pull away from the Wolverines, with unanswered goals from Gavin Baker and Rintaro Nishioka to start the first part of the deciding half for a 3-1 lead.

With just five minutes left in the contest, a goal from Timothy Hutapea helped the Wolverines claw back into the match, and three minutes later, Kyler Alcantara notched the eventual game-tying goal, forcing last season’s premiership and Youth Cup winners Wings to settle for the 3-3 draw.

Youth soccer continues, adult leagues back on schedule

[September 14, 2018 - Harmon, Guam] After a short hiatus due to last week’s storm preparations, soccer is back in full swing this weekend with five different leagues in season.

Week 2 of the Triple J Auto Group Robbie Webber Youth Soccer League is on at the Guam Football Association National Training Center beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday. Full schedules for the U6, U8, U10, U11, U12, U14, and U16 divisions are online at http://www.guamfa.com/all-leagues-youth-fall-results

Kicking off Saturday is the Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth League U13 Division Fall Season beginning at 10:30 a.m. featuring Community First/Days Inn Dededo Soccer Club taking on Quality Distributors. Wings FC will play the ASC Trust Islanders in a re-match of the Aloha Maid Youth Cup championship at 12:30 p.m. followed by Bank of Guam Strykers against Guam Shipyard Wolverines, set to kick off at 2:30 p.m.

Youth soccer to take center stage Saturday at Guam FA

[September 6, 2018 - Harmon, Guam] Youth soccer takes center stage Saturday with opening day of the Triple J Auto Group Robbie Webber Youth League and championship matches of the Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth Cup tournament at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Close to 140 teams from 15 different clubs will play in their first match of the Fall 2018 recreational season in seven age divisions: U6, U8, U10, U11, U12, U14, and U16. Full schedules are available online at http://guamfa.com/all-leagues-youth-fall-results

For players needing to obtain Player ID cards, the GFA Main Office is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and specially during the youth league season, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Wings Red three-peat as champions of middle elite division

[November 12, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] Wings Red finally mastered the winning formula against the previously undefeated ASC Trust Islanders to repeat as U15 champions of the Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth League with an 8-4 victory Saturday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The Islanders, the lone team to lead against Wings Red in the regular season with one win and one draw, found themselves in a hole early, down two goals in the first ten minutes of play. Just four minutes into the first half, Robert Niu worked the right side of the field and found championship match MVP Mark Iseke for a picture-perfect header to start the Wings Red scoring barrage in the half. Two minutes later, a long-distance shot from Taiga Simon doubled his team’s advantage. Iseke managed to complete a first-half hat trick before the halftime whistle.

ASC Trust Islanders repeat as U13 elite league champions

[November 11, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] The ASC Trust Islanders gained from early goals against Wings Red to repeat as Aloha Maid Minetgot Cup Elite Youth League champions with a 6-3 victory Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center..

Championship match MVP E.J. Sablan contributed a hat trick in the win and teammates Nainoa Norton, Justin Joseph, and Cristian Cruz also scored.

Wings Red’s Martin Iseke scored his team’s lone goal in the first half on a penalty kick and teammates Taiyo Kanekatsu and Rintaro Nishioka scored one each in the second half.
