NAPA Rovers regain top spot in Budweiser Men's Soccer
[February 12, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] The NAPA Rovers emerged 3-2 victors against Guam Shipyard in a clash of the top two teams in the Budweiser Soccer League at the Guam Football Association National Training Center Saturday in Week 13 play.
The win pushed the Rovers to the top spot based on superior goal differential over Guam Shipyard. Jason Cunliffe led all scorers with two goals and Marcus Lopez added one in the win. Min Sung Choi and Mark Chargualaf scored for Guam Shipyard.
NAPA Rovers inch closer to top spot in Budweiser soccer
[February 6, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] The NAPA Rovers inched closer to the top spot in Budweiser Soccer League standings with a 5-1 victory over the Bank of Guam Strykers in Week 12 play at the Guam Football Association National Training Center ahead of its next highly-anticipated match against top-ranked Guam Shipyard on Feb. 11.
Ashton Surber and Devan Mendiola each scored twice in the victory and Marcus Lopez chipped in one goal. Scott Spindel scored the Strykers' lone goal.
Quality Distributors picked up a forfeit win over Haya United in a rescheduled match.
Budweiser soccer top teams continue with Week 11 wins
[January 30, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] Budweiser Soccer League top teams Guam Shipyard and NAPA Rovers continued with wins in Week 11 play Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.
Guam Shipyard extended its points lead in the standings with a 4-1 win over Bank of Guam Strykers in the early match. Dominic Gadia led all scorers with two goals and teammates Min Sung Choi and Ajay Pothen contributed one goal each in the win for Shipyard. Ricky Katsumata scored the Strykers' lone goal.
Haya United win first top division match in maiden season
[January 23, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] Haya United picked up its first Premier Division win in the Budweiser Soccer League with a 3-2 edge of the Bank of Guam Strykers FC in Week 10 play at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.
After a nearly scoreless first half, the Strykers’ Clayton Mitchell fired first with a pair of goals in the 34th and 35th minute to give his team a 2-0 lead.
Haya United answered back before the halftime whistle on a goal credited to Kaito Inoue, who, after being taken down in the box by Strykers captain Ross Awa on his run to the goal, watched the ball roll to the back of the net for the eventual score. Awa was given a yellow card on the play and both teams settled for a 2-1 halftime score.
Quality Distributors pull off upset against NAPA Rovers
[January 18, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] The NAPA Rovers FC’s ascent to the top of the Budweiser Soccer League Premier Division standings was short-lived, as No. 3 Quality Distributors pulled off a 3-2 upset win in Week 9, according to the latest league statistics released by the Guam Football Association Men’s Committee.
A remarkable diving save by Quality goalkeeper Brett Maluwelmeng on a Marcus Lopez penalty kick late in the second half kept the winning team up at 3-1, but a minor defensive lapse in the 88th minute allowed Lopez to eventually score, cutting the Rovers’ deficit to one goal.
