[April 18, 2015 - Harmon, Guam] The Big Blue Masters needed extra time to stave off the Rovers Masters to advance to the main draw of the Bank of Guam 8th Annual GFA Cup in the tournament's opening night at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

A game-tying goal from Rovers Masters' Ramsey Chichakli in the 88th minute - his second of the night - sent the match into extra time, where Big Blue came out on top with the eventual game-winning goal from Roy Abril 10 minutes into the first half of extra time.

Pepito Bedia, Jr. scored twice for Big Blue Masters and Noel Casilao also scored for the winning team. Atsushi Yamamuro scored the Rovers Masters' other goal.

Rovers DI capture Bank of Guam 7th Annual GFA Cup title

The Rovers DI claimed the Bank of Guam 7th Annual GFA Cup trophy edging second-consecutive finalists Table 35/Fuji Ichiban Espada FC 4-3 in the tournament final at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The win capped the Rovers DI's championship season in the Budweiser Soccer League, in the team's first foray into Division I play.

Semifinals set for Bank of Guam GFA Cup

A new champion will be crowned in the Bank of Guam 7th Annual GFA Cup following the early exit of Quality Distributors FC to the Southern Cobras in a quarterfinal match at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Down 2-1, the Cobras capitalized on a corner kick play to level the match with just a few seconds left on the clock. The Cobras’ Jeremy Copple, positioned near the inside post, drew in defenders after getting a touch on the ball and sent it backwards across the goal. With the ball just teasing the goal line, the Cobras’ David John Cruz slid into the goal box for the equalizer just before center referee David Drews blew the final whistle of regulation time.

The Cobras drew first blood in extra time, with Cruz launching a long-range rocket that had Quality goalkeeper Brett Maluwelmeng diving to attempt a save. Quality’s Kaito Inoue later leveled the match again in the 103rd minute, just a few minutes before the whistle signaling teams to change sides on the field.

Big Blue storms into quarterfinals of Bank of Guam GFA Cup

Big Blue stormed into the quarterfinals of the Bank of Guam 7th Annual GFA Cup following a pair of come-from-behind wins in Rounds 2 and 3 to face last year’s runners up, Table 35/Fuji Ichiban Espada FC Saturday beginning at 8:30 p.m. at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Big Blue’s latest victory, a stunning 5-4 extra-time win over Budweiser Soccer League Division II champions, the IP&E/Paradise Fitness Sidekicks, seemed unlikely until 15 minutes before the regulation time whistle.

After the Sidekicks’ Paul Atalig knocked in a goal off a rebound from Carlo Unpingco’s free kick to take a 4-2 lead in the 70th minute, the team looked to be playing a more defensive game to continue to frustrate Big Blue’s strikers.

Big Blue, already shown two yellow cards in the second half, still continued to fight for opportunities to move the ball into its attacking half. Jake Quichocho, barreling through the Sidekicks’ defense on the left side, managed to finish his shot to get within one at 4-3. Later, with just two minutes left on the game clock, Kevin Tainatongo connected on a through pass into the box, maneuvered around Sidekicks defenders and slipped his shot toward the inside post to level the match to force another 30 minutes of extra time.
