Doosan, Rovers DII on to quarters of Bank of Guam tourney

[May 3, 2015 - Harmon, Guam] Potential upsets were quashed in Saturday's Round 1 action of the Bank of Guam 8th Annual GFA Cup tournament at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Trailing 3-1 at halftime, Doosan FC crafted a second-half comeback to advance to the tournament's quarterfinals with a 4-3 victory against the Budweiser Soccer League Division II side Tumon. Allan Angoco scored Doosan's lone first-half goal in the 34th minute and the eventual game winner in the 86th minute. Teammates Thomas Medler and Anthony Manibusan also scored in the win. Ezra Valdez, Thomas Sheehy, and Nayel Jones scored for Tumon.

Shipyard, Cobras advance to Bank of Guam GFA Cup quarters

[May 2, 2015 - Harmon, Guam] Guam Shipyard and the Southern Cobras encountered no difficulty in advancing to the quarterfinals of the Bank of Guam 8th Annual GFA Cup in the first batch of Round 1 matches of the tournament's main draw at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

The Cobras moved on to the quarterfinals of the annual tournament with a 9-1 win over Big Blue Masters. Ashton Surber scored four goals and teammates Donovan Reyes and Jan Flores scored three and two, respectively for the win. Big Blue Masters' goal came on a Cobras own goal in the 14th minute.

Bank of Guam GFA Cup main draw begins tonight

[May 1, 2015 - Harmon, Guam] The main draw of the Bank of Guam 8th Annual GFA Cup is set to begin with matches Friday evening at the Guam Footall Association National Training Center.

The first match of the main draw will kick off at 7 p.m. Friday, pitting Guam Shipyard and FC Beercelona, followed by the Southern Cobras taking on the Big Blue Masters at 9 p.m.

A total of 22 teams entered the annual tournament that crowns Guam’s top men’s soccer team for the year.

All Masters Division teams of the Budweiser Soccer League were placed into the preliminary round draw with the bottom seven teams of the league’s Division II based on standings prior to the official draw held March 18. The six winners from the preliminary round, along with the top three teams of Division II and all seven teams from Division I, were put in a blind draw to fill in slots in the tournament’s main bracket.

All three Strykers FC teams in GFA Cup main draw

[April 25, 2015 - Harmon, Guam] All three Strykers teams - the Payless Supermarkets Strykers FC, Strykers FC DII, and Strykers Masters - will make an appearance in the main draw of the Bank of Guam 8th Annual GFA Cup, following a 3-1 win by the club's Division II team over the Pago Bay Disasters Saturday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Luke Reeder scored the Strykers FC DII's first two goals and assisted his team's other goal from Jeremy Wendal. Nicholas Rivera scored Pago Bay's lone goal before the halftime whistle.

The Strykers FC DII will next play the Division I Paradise Fitness Sidekicks at 9 p.m. May 3.

Shinko Siheky FC joins main draw of GFA Cup

[April 21, 2015 - Harmon, Guam] Shinko Siheky FC become the latest team to join teams automatically qualified for the Bank of Guam 8th Annual GFA Cup main draw after its preliminary round win over the IT&E Masters team Monday evening at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

In the first inter-division match of the tournament, Shinko Siheky FC, a Division II team, defeated IT&E, a Masters Division team 11-0 with two goals each from Logan Blackwelder, Shinya Yasuda, Dong Keun Kim, and Thomas Park, and one each from Nick Shoji, Yoshiaki Shinozaki, and Daniel Taitano.

With the win, Shinko Siheky FC advances into the main draw of the tournament to face Division I's Quality Distributors at 7 p.m. on May 4.
