Co-Ed Masters Soccer opening week features 17 goals

[June 18, 2017 - Harmon, Guam] Winning teams in opening week of the 2017 Red Dragon Sports Co-Ed Masters Soccer League combined for 16 of 17 goals scored in three matches at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

Big Blue Masters take the early top spot in the league’s leaderboard following the team’s 7-0 win over the IT&E Boonie Dawgs in Friday evening’s late match. Sarah Graham led all scorers with a pair of goals and teammates Pepito Bedia, Jr., Andrew Miller, Tom Schils, Matthew Ho, and James Campbell also scored.

In Friday evening’s first match, Hyundai Family FC’s Ashley Besagar recorded the 2017 league’s first goal by a female player and the eventual game winner against Gino’s FC, finishing a cross from teammate Nari Saeki in the 20th minute. T

eammates Se Lim led all scorers with a hat trick and Sang Won Park scored twice in Hyundai Family FC’s 6-1 win. Kiattisak Yolpan scored Gino’s FC’s lone goal on a header off a James Oh free kick in the 61st minute.

In Thursday evening’s match, United Masters defeated Bank of Guam Strykers Masters 3-0 with goals from Enrique Interian, Takefumi Inoue, and Woo Cho.

The league’s other team, defending champions NAPA Rovers Masters, received a bye on opening week.

In the league’s Golden Boot Race, Lim leads with three goals scored, followed by Graham and Park, tied for the second-place spot with two each.

League play continues Thursday with Gino’s FC taking on NAPA Rovers Masters at 7 p.m. Friday evening’s matches will feature Big Blue Masters taking on Bank of Guam Strykers Masters at 7 p.m. followed by Hyundai Family FC against United Masters at 9 p.m.
